    Complex System Modelling

    I am currently developing a connected body of work on the modelling of spiral galaxies as complex systems. This work examines how the assumptions built into dynamical models influence the interpretation of galactic observations, especially the conversion of observed motion into inferred mass.

    The programme includes writing for specialist audiences in astronomy and complex systems, as well as more accessible articles for the wider scientific public. In each case, the underlying issue is the same, but the presentation is adapted to the readership.
